Introduction to Acne

What is acne?

Acne is the word used to describe plugged oil glands (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples and deeper lumps (nodules). Acne occurs on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. It is a skin condition that can occur at any age but is usually seen during adolescence. During adolescence, acne is caused by an increased amount of, or an increased sensitivity to male hormone levels. It is very common between age 12 to 25 and ranges from mild spots to severe and involves many parts of body.

Main problem with Acne is its long term treatment and scars or spots due to acne takes long time to disappear and may need maintenance treatment to keep it quite.
